Janče

Janče (Janche) is a small, quiet village in the municipality of Mavrovo-Rostushe, Republic of Macedonia. It is situated in the middle of Mavrovo National Park,  between Korab and Bistra mountains.   The hamlet overlooks the Radika river and also the P409 road connecting Gostivar and Debar,  close to the border between Macedonia and Albania, at 650 mt. (2100 ft) above sea level.
Janče has a mosque, a christian ortodox church and a population of less than 200 people. For centuries, emigration to Turkey, Germany, Italy and other countries left a deep mark on this land. In recent times, some came back to this area: for retirement, holidays, sometimes to begin new activities,  such as the restauration of traditional macedonian houses.
